> **Summary:** A Snowflake revenue dashboard puts monthly revenue, growth versus last year, and breakdowns by region, channel and customer on one page, read straight from your warehouse tables. With Snowflake connected to Better Analyst, you describe the dashboard in plain English, review the SQL and share a web dashboard that refreshes on schedule.

Build a revenue dashboard on Snowflake: monthly revenue, growth, region and channel breakdowns and top customers, without a BI tool. Fields, sample and setup.

## Who this report is for

Finance and revenue-operations teams whose orders or invoices already sit in Snowflake but who don't want to wait on a BI developer for every new view.

## What the report includes

*Metrics and dimensions in this report*

| Metric | Source field | Why it matters |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Order date | FACT_ORDERS.ORDER_DATE (example schema) | Assigns revenue to months and quarters. |
| Net revenue | FACT_ORDERS.NET_REVENUE (example schema) | Revenue after discounts and refunds, the headline figure. |
| Region | DIM_CUSTOMER.REGION (example schema) | Geographic breakdown leadership reviews. |
| Sales channel | FACT_ORDERS.CHANNEL (example schema) | Separates direct, partner and online revenue. |
| Customer | FACT_ORDERS.CUSTOMER_ID joined to DIM_CUSTOMER | Ranks top customers and shows revenue concentration. |
| YoY growth | Calculated: (Revenue − Revenue same month last year) ÷ Revenue same month last year | Seasonality-adjusted growth for each month. |

## How to build it in Better Analyst from Snowflake

1. Create a dedicated Snowflake role and user with SELECT on the schemas you want to analyse (the Snowflake connector docs include the SQL).
2. In Better Analyst, open Connectors, choose Add Connector, then Snowflake, and enter the account identifier, username, password, warehouse and database, plus an optional schema and role.
3. Click Test Connection (the warehouse must be running) and save.
4. Add Data Context describing your revenue tables, for example which column is net revenue and which statuses count as completed, so every chart uses the same definition.
5. Describe the dashboard you want: monthly net revenue with YoY growth, revenue by region and channel, and the top 20 customers, with a date filter.

## Questions to ask

- “Build a revenue dashboard: monthly net revenue with YoY growth, revenue by region and channel, and the top 20 customers.”
- “Which region grew fastest year over year last quarter?”
- “What share of revenue comes from our top 10 customers?”
- “Total revenue by region last quarter, excluding cancelled orders.”

## Sample output

Sample data for illustration, not real account data.

*Sample data: quarterly net revenue by region (illustrative)*

| Region | Q3 2025 | Q3 2026 | YoY growth | Share of Q3 2026 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| North America | $4,820,000 | $5,410,000 | 12.2% | 54.2% |
| EMEA | $2,630,000 | $3,090,000 | 17.5% | 31.0% |
| APAC | $1,410,000 | $1,480,000 | 5.0% | 14.8% |

## Charts to use

- **Monthly net revenue** (Column chart with prior-year line): This year's monthly revenue against last year's.
- **Revenue by region and channel** (Stacked bar chart): Mix of revenue across regions, split by channel.
- **Top customers** (Table with data bars): Largest customers by revenue with share of total.

## Keep it up to date

Schedule dashboard refreshes so the page is current each morning, and use alerts on monthly revenue (for example a fall of more than 10% versus the previous month) to notify finance by email or Slack.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Better Analyst copy my Snowflake data?

It queries Snowflake with the credentials you provide and works with the results; access is read-only unless you deliberately enable a Data Flow destination in an approved schema.

### Will this use Snowflake credits?

Yes. Queries run on the warehouse you configure, so they consume credits like any other query. Use an appropriately sized warehouse and auto-suspend.

### Do I need a semantic layer first?

No, but documenting key definitions (net revenue, completed status, fiscal calendar) in Data Context keeps answers consistent across people and dashboards.
