Alerts

Know when your numbersmove.

Get an email or a Slack message when a metric crosses a threshold, changes sharply, or stops arriving, and see how often it would have fired before you turn it on.

No guessing at thresholds

Most alerts are too noisy or too quiet, and you only find out after they go live. Better Analyst replays your rule over the last 90 days of your own data, so you can see it would have alerted you four times, not forty, before you save it.

Email and Slack

The same alert, wherever your team looks

Send an alert to teammates by email, post it in a Slack channel, or both. Each message carries the same facts: the metric, the condition it met, the latest value and period, and a link back to the alert.

Alert on GA4 daily sessions

Checking it now. Looks like the paid search campaigns paused overnight.

  • Email the right people

In a team workspace, choose one or more teammates to email. In a personal workspace, the alert emails you.

  • Post to a Slack channel

Connect the Slack app to your team workspace and pick a channel. Send to Slack, email, or both.

  • Keep track of every send

Each trigger and test send is kept in the alert’s history. Pause it any time, and it flags Needs attention if its Slack channel is gone or Slack is disconnected.

From question to alert in one chat

  1. 1

    Ask for the data

Start an alert chat and ask for what you want to watch, like daily sessions by channel from Google Analytics or orders from your database.

  2. 2

    Set the condition

Pick the metric and choose when to hear about it: above or below a number, a sharp change from the previous period, or no data at all.

  3. 3

    See the history first

Before you save, see how many times the alert would have fired in the last 30, 60 and 90 days, and tune it until the number feels right.

  4. 4

    Get the alert

Once a day at the time you choose, or each time its Data Flow runs, the alert checks the latest complete period. When the condition is met it sends an email, a Slack post, or both.
